Sri Ganapathy in the ashtothra namavali is addressed as Dwai Mathurayai nama:That translates into having two mothers. He was created by Parvathi out of her makarandha powder smeared on Her body before taking a bath. She wanted someone as a guard so that she is not disturbed while taking Her bath. She created an image of a small boy out of the makarandha powder and gave it life and this is how Sri Ganapathy was born.He was to guard His mother. How He got His elephant head is known to all.He is therefore praised as dwimukhaya nama:Having had a human being face first and then the face of the elephant.Ganga Devi is deemed as Sri Shiva's second wife though there is no such thing as Ganga married Sri Shiva.Only that  when  Ganga descended from the Heavens to earth Lord Shiva was prayed to hold her on His Jada mudi and release Her through a strand of His hair by Bhagiratha.
Thus Ganga became a permanent resident of Sri Shiva's head.
As She is always with Sri Shiva She is deemed as His wife thus becoming another Mother to Sri Ganapathy.
Dwaimathurayai Nama;  thus got included in the Ashtotharam.
My father used to advise me to always keep in mind  the following three for an un perturbed living:
1]Don't ever ask why should I but always say or think why not I.
2]Take a charitable view on criticism or on matters which are offensive.
3]Every thing has a place and everything in its place.
If these three things are observed one will definitely will become more balanced ..There will be lot of time saved in hunting for things which are often get misplaced if one follows the third advice.

Kubera is the deity safeguarding the wealth .He is credited with holding the Sanka Nidhi and Padma Nidhi.
He is also the deity for the Northern Direction.
The deity for the Southern Direction is as everyone knows is Lord Yama .He is the son of Sungod born to His wife Chaya Devi.Sri Saniswara is His younger brother.
Now two interesting instances from our mythology where encounters with Yama take place and the persons after encounter come back to Earth with His blessings. After meeting Yama no one can get back to this world. But these two are exceptions.
One is Nachikethas of Kathopanishad. He is given to Yama by his father who while performing a yaga gives aged cows as dhanam to the attending brahmins gets angry by his son's interference criticising his father for such a poor action.Nachikethas thus given to Yama reaches Yamaloka .Fortunately for him Yama was not available at His residence. He waits for t.he arrival of Yama for three days and three nights. When Yama arrives ultimately he sees this young brahmin who has arrived un announced having been sent by his father in a fit of anger. He was not due at all.Yama feels guilty that a brahmin boy was made to wait with hunger and thirst in His abode. This bad action on His side makes Him repent and to balance this He offers the lad a boon to choose. This clever boy asks Yama about Death and Yama answers him that it is not to be asked leaving this he can ask some other boon. Thus this dialogue gives birth to Kathopanishad,Finally Nachikethas gets back to earth with the satisfaction of knowing the Yaga to conquer Death which goes by his name.He also gets the supreme knowledge of the Athman which is undestroyable by Death.
This dialogue called Kathopanishad throws light on what is eternal and what it is that perishes.
Another one is Savithri.
She is the only daughter of a king who is pious but looks for status. He is always fond of company of hermits .
Sathyavan is the son of Bhimasenan another king of an adjacent kingdom. He is devoted to his parents.By a quirk of fate Bhimasenan loses his kingdom and was driven out by the usurper of his kingdom to the forest the cruel usurper blinding his vision. His wife a devout woman also though not blinded keeps her eyes covered with a blind fold. Savithri meets Satyavan while playing with her friends and decides to marry him.The same case with Satyavan.
Naradha the celesial wanderer visits Savithri's father's kingdom and blesses her with long married life
Sri Naradh also advises Savithri's father to give her in marriage to Sathyavan despite the father's hesitation to give her in marriage to Sathyavan as his father who is a deposed king.
Marriage takes place.Sri Naradh comes to the marriage and reveals to Savithri that Sathyavan will lose life after a year.He advises her to continue the vratham which Savithri is performng all along to the Savithri Devi.
The D day arrives and Savithri makes it a habit to follow Sathyavan everyday to guard against his death.Sathyavan loses his life while cutting a tree due to exhaustion.Yama Himself comes to take away the lie of Sathyavan when his two servants fail to bring the departed soul of Sathyavan to Yama's abode. They were driven out by Savithri's devotion to her husband which poses as fire.
Savithri is able to see Yama Himself taking away the life of her husband. She follows Him des[pite Yama warning her not to follow him and gives a boon so that she should return back to her place and not to follow Him any further. She chooses to get her father-in-law his lost eyesight and the kingdom.
But she still follows Him asking to return her husband's life. She crosses over the fiery river before Yama's kingdom with the blessings of Goddess Savithri.Yama is overwhelmed by her persistence and again tells her to get back He says she can ask for a boon .She outwits him by asking for progeny which Yama grants. That means she has to live with her husband to beget children being a pathivratha.
Dev Savithri also appears before Yama and tells Him to spare Sathyavan's life.
So Nachikethas and Savithri are two characters in our mythology who went to Yama's abode and got back to earth achieving what they wanted.
